HEBRON: CPT condemns fatal attack on Israeli woman and her four daughters in
Gaza
by JoAnne Lingle
CPT learned on the evening of May 2, 2004 that two Palestinian gunmen shot
and killed an eight-month pregnant Israeli woman and her four daughters,
ages two to eleven years. The attack occurred in the Gaza Strip as they
were traveling on a road that leads to a settlement. A CNN film crew had
just been shot at and tried to warn civilian vehicles leaving the settlement
but were unsuccessful in stopping the mother and four daughters.
CPTers are saddened by this act of violence and offer condolences to the
family and friends. Palestinian friends of CPT condemn the attack as well.
One friend said, "This is not right. Even though they are settlers, they
were women and children and did not have weapons. They were not a danger to
anyone." Another friend said, "People on both sides are suffering. They
are victims of their leaders and are the ones who are paying the price."
