Kindergarten accompaniment

Pictured here: A young student leads a train of kindergarteners to Al Sarayah Kindergarten. CPT Palestine has resumed our accompaniment program this year of walking fourteen kindergartners back and forth to school, as they must pass  military checkpoints and armed Israeli Border Police.

Ransacked

 

Pictured here: The Batsh family cleans up their house after it was ransacked by Israeli soldiers at 3:00 a.m. Thirty to forty soldiers tore through the six apartments that are jointly owned by the Batsh family. In addition to the destruction of personal possessions, appliances, and furniture, the raiding soldiers also stole 2000 NIS and a gold medallion.

Abed’s shoes

 

Pictured here: Abed repairs shoes in the Old City of Hebron. He has been working at his shoe shop continuously for thirty-three years, and he has endured decades of targeted violence from the Israeli occupation. Yet Abed remains determined to work and provide for the people in his community.

Taken into custody

 

Pictured here: Thirteen-year-old Hassan’s father is interrogated while his son is detained in a separate area. Hassan was taken into custody by Israeli soldiers who accused him of throwing a rope. The soldiers hit him and questioned him during the time that he was separated from his father. After nearly six hours, Hassan and his father were released on a 500 NIS bail.

After school

 

Pictured here: Palestinian students rest on the steps of the Ibrahimi School after classes have finished. With the Israeli military occupying the streets of Hebron’s Old City, Palestinian youth are left with fewer places to relax and safely play.
