Kindergarten Detained

Pictured here: During Passover, there are heightened restrictions and closures for Palestinians, and the apartheid path was apparently closed at this time. Not content with merely inhibiting these children reaching their homes, Israeli Border Police initially detained them against a wall, before ordering them to move into one alcove, and again, into another tunnel, before letting them leave after approximately ten minutes. During that time, the Border Policeman stood guard at the entrance to the tunnel.

Military Harassment

Pictured here: During Passover, there is a heightened military presence, and so, harassment of Palestinians, on the streets of Hebron, as waves of settlers and their visitors tour the streets. Palestinians are pushed around and ordered to move by an occupying army – as in the case of this young boy – while the ‘tours’ continue over the course of three hours.

Movement Restrictions

Already enclosed by numerous checkpoints, more barriers and regulations of movement are imposed upon Palestinians as settlers celebrate the festival. Here, enclosed by police barriers, Palestinian girls leave school down the narrow section of road they are allowed to walk upon.

A ‘Selfie’ Moment

Pictured here: While detaining these three men detained at the checkpoint yesterday afternoon, Israeli soldiers stood by and started taking selfies. Two of the men were detained for over an hour, while one was released after forty minutes. One of the men was taken behind the container to be body searched. Meanwhile, these soldiers ensured that they captured their role in this humiliating, infuriating and violating occupation for social media.

A Festival Militarised

Warming Fires

Pictured here: While the Israeli military may have illegally declared Tel Rumeida a ‘closed military zone’, life and resistance continues. At a gathering and a film showing up in the beautiful olive grove of Tel Rumeida – just outside of the arbitrary and illegal lines of closure imposed by the military – these two little boys got the fire started to keep those attending warm. May they always have the fire in their bellies that they need to face this occupation everyday, and may they always be able to find peaceful spaces among the ancient olive trees of Tel Rumeida.
