CPT INTERNATIONAL: CPT Steering Committee Introduces Jonathan Shively

CPT is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Shively (Elgin, Illinois, USA) as Interim Administrative Director.

Jonathan is an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren (COB) and has worked for the denomination in various capacities at the administrative level, including eight years as Executive Director of Congregational Life Ministries.  Much of his work has been with the church during times of change and transition.  He holds a certificate in nonprofit management from North Park University and brings a deep, working understanding of organizational structures and administrative processes to CPT at this time.

 “We
are very excited to welcome Jonathan as Interim Administrative
Director during this period,” said Jason Boone, CPT Steering
Committee Chair and Coordinating Minister for the Peace and Justice
Support Network of Mennonite Church USA. “With the completion of
Sarah Thompson’s term as Executive Director, we wanted to take the
opportunity of this transition to explore next steps with
intentionality. Jonathan’s particular leadership skills will help
position CPT to move our mission of building partnerships to
transform violence and oppression forward with healthy vigor.”

In
addition to serving half-time with CPT for the next year, Jonathan is
the Director of Advancement for Pinecrest Community, a
Church of the Brethren continuing care retirement facility. He is
also the founder of ArtistryLeads, a consulting and training company
focused on creative accompaniment and innovation capacity for leaders
and organizations.

Jonathan
and his wife Kim, both natives of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, are
the parents of three young adult children. They are active members
of Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren in Elgin, Illinois.
Jonathan is also a board member and musician for a new church start
in Lombard, Illinois called Parables Community, which is focused on
creating a welcoming and nurturing community for people and families
with special needs and special gifts.

A
singer-songwriter, occasional blogger, and picture taker, Jonathan’s
perspectives can be heard, read, and seen at www.jashively.com.
Jonathan also enjoys volunteering at a local food bank, running,
cooking, gardening, cheering on Chicago sports teams, and time in the
outdoors.

We
invite the CPT community to join us in giving Jonathan a warm
welcome.
