CPT Sending Delegation to Chiapas, Mexico

Christian Peacemaker Teams is organizing a 12-day delegation (February 21 to
March 4) to the southern state of Chiapas, Mexico, because of the
intensifying violence there. Delegates will meet with peace and human rights
workers, religious leaders, and those violently displaced by paramilitary
groups.

On December 22, in Acteal, Chiapas, an armed paramilitary group shot and
macheted to death 45 unarmed people -- mostly women and children -- at
worship. Although the largest massacre in the past 30 years, this was not an
isolated incident. Religious leaders and peace workers are calling for
more international attention on, visits to, and support for those in Chiapas.

The victims of the massacre were members of Las Abejas (The Bees), a
Christian organization committed to nonviolent struggle. A CPT delegation in
December met with some of their members who'd been displaced from their
community.

The cost of the delegation is $1,000 and includes plane fare from a
designated point in the U.S., two meals a day, transportation in country,
food and lodging. For more information about the delegation, contact CPT at
