CHICAGO: "CELEBRATE CPT SUNDAY - May 31, 1998"

Christian Peacemaker Teams(CPT) invites congregations to celebrate
"CPT Sunday" on May 31, 1998 (or another Sunday as appropriate).

May 31 is also Pentecost Sunday. CPT has produced a packet of materials,
including worship resources, sermon ideas and peacemaking stories, which
integrates a focus on the power of Pentecost with the vision for
faith-based, nonviolent peacemaking.

Summer 1998 marks ten years since the beginning of CPT staff work. In
1990,CPT began sending short-term peacemaker delegations to Iraq, Haiti,
Israel/Palestine and several North American locations. By 1993 it became
clear that people trained in nonviolence and peacemaking skills need to be
available for longer periods of time. Today CPT has a Corps of 12 full-time
members and 51 part-time Reservists prepared to enter emergency situations
of violent conflict at the invitation of local peacemakers.
