HEBRON: Prayers requested for the Ra'anan family
Last night an intruder broke into the trailer home of Rabbi Shlomo Ra'anan
(age 63) in the settlement of Tel Rumeida, stabbed him to death, and then set
the trailer on fire. He also attacked and injured Rabbi Ra'anan's wife, Chai.
The murderer escaped.
Tel Rumeida is one of the four Israeli settlement blocs within the city of
Hebron and is adjacent to the home of several Palestinian friends of CPT's
Hebron team.
Christian Peacemaker Teams asks that its supporters hold the Ra'anan family in
their prayers as they grieve the loss of their father, brother, husband, and
grandfather.
We also ask that our supporters pray for the hundreds of Palestinian families
currently suffering collective punishment by the Israeli military as a result
of the murder, and ask that God protect these families from the retribution by
Israeli settlers that is likely to follow.
We believe that God loves all people, regardless of their religious, ethnic or
national identities, and that no human being has the right to treat any of
God's children with violence or contempt.
