Land Day Demonstration

Pictured here: The “Dismantle the Ghetto, Take Settlers Out of Hebron” Campaign planted olive trees to mark the 41st anniversary of Land Day; a day to commemorate deadly clashes in 1976 over discriminatory Israeli policies against Arab citizens.

Arrested

Pictured here: Younes Arar, Anan Dana, Badea Dwaik, and Ishaq Khateeb were arrested at the demonstration on Thursday, on charges of participating in an illegal demonstration and being in a closed military zone and targeted them because of their non-violent presence at the Open Shuhada Street demonstrations last month.

Excessive Force

Pictured here:  In an attempt to de-arrest, Israeli soldiers shove organizers to the ground.  In Monday’s hearing the military judge agreed to release the four Palestinian leaders with a 3500 shekel fine each.  The fee is high and they are working to raise the funds. For more information, or to contribute to the fine, read more here.

Freedom of Robotic Movement

Pictured here: Israeli soldiers sent in a robotic bomb diffuser to sift through trash and open a fridge at Checkpoint 56.  When they were assured there was no security threat, the robot exited through the checkpoint much easier than it would have been for a Palestinian.

Play Interrupted

Pictured here: Local boys stand aside as dozens of Israeli soldiers circle around the settler incursion.  Their Saturday afternoons have been interrupted by military lockdown their whole lives.
