CPT INTERNATIONAL: Take Action to Support Palestinian Human Rights – Don’t Buy Hewlett Packard (HP)

DID YOU KNOW about Hewlett Packard’s link to the Israeli Occupation? Join CPT’s online protest now! In solidarity with Palestinians, Christian Peacemaker Teams International is calling for a mass social media action starting today. Hewlett-Packard (HP) supplies the Israeli military with products that violate the human rights of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Share this video on HP’s Facebook page and with your social networks. Copy & paste this sample letter to send your message to Hewlett-Packard:

SAMPLE LETTER TO HP

To whom it may concern,

Recently, Christian Peacemaker Teams, an organization that has worked in the West Bank since 1995, interviewed a father whose 16-year-old-son had been arrested for the seventeenth time:  “My son was handcuffed and blindfolded and they took him. When I asked, ‘why are you taking my kid?’ They just said, ‘you will find out soon.’ A few hours later they said that if I wanted to have my son back I would have to pay 1000 shekels.”

As a socially conscious consumer, I am disturbed by HP’s connection to Israel’s escalating violation of Palestinian human rights.  HP has the ability and corporate responsibility to ensure that your operations do not support such oppression.  I cannot in good conscience buy an HP product until you stop conducting business operations that enable Israel’s abuse of Palestinian people.

I am appalled by HP’s complicity in the Israeli occupation of Palestine in various ways, including the technology you provide the Israeli prison system. Currently 5,732 Palestinian political prisoners suffer isolation, torture, and other inhumane treatment in Israeli prisons.  Over 400 are being held indefinitely without charge or trial.  And 291 are CHILDREN under the age of 18! [1]

Stop providing technology to the Israeli prison system. End business dealings with the Israeli Occupation Forces. Please take a stand for human rights and dignity.

Sincerely,

Concerned Customer
