CANADA: "War is not essential"—CPTers participate in protest against arms manufacturer in London, Ontario

The times, they  are a’changing….” This song was written and sung by Bob Dylan during the turbulent year of 1964.  Fast forward to 2020 and truly the times are changing with the rising grassroots movements who are standing up to say, “No” to the increasing rattle of sabers, inflammatory rhetoric, and both threats of and actual armed conflicts between nations. 

Prayers for Peacemakers 4 March 2020

Please pray for Wet’suwet’en land defenders and their allies in the lands known as Canada. For years, Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs have led nonviolent resistance to the construction of oil and gas pipelines across their unceded land, which lies between the Alberta tar sands and the port of Kitimat on the west coast. The proposed pipelines would allow for the expansion of the Alberta tar sands, already considered the largest and most destructive industrial project in the world.

CPT INTERNATIONAL: Christian Peacemaker Teams statement on U.S./Iranian tensions in Iraq 

Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) calls for an immediate end to all U.S. and Iranian military escalations and a deepened commitment to diplomacy in the region. The world has watched as the governments of the United States and The Islamic Republic of Iran teeter on the brink of war as their armed forces launched drone strikes and ballistic missiles at various targets within the borders of Iraq. 

UNITED STATES: CPTers in Syracuse, NY area take part in public witness asking congressman to respect lives of children

On World Children's Day, 20 November, CPT reservist Jonathan Brenneman and former CPT Executive Director Sarah Nahar participated in the "Rally to End Child Detention from the US to Palestine" in Syracuse, New York (Haudenosaunee Confederacy land).
