Steps toward peace

The aftermath of a bombardment

This month, several steps have been taken toward peace in Iraqi Kurdistan. The PKK has announced the dissolution of its armed wing, outlining specific steps that Turkey must take to ensure full disarmament. Despite this, Turkey continues to bombard Iraqi Kurdistan. The path to peace is ubiquitously fragile, vulnerable, powerful, and brave. It can feel both hopeless and hopeful at once. Yet peace—and the pursuit of justice—is never easy. The road to reconciliation is paved with hardship.

  • Pray for the farmers who may finally return to their land.
  • Pray for the indigenous nomadic people to reclaim their way of life.
  • Pray for civilians to live without fear of being bombed.
  • Pray for the environment to be spared from constant destruction so it may grow and thrive.
  • Pray for peace, and for the courage it takes to pursue meaningful, nonviolent resolution.
