A region at war

It has been nearly two months since the United States launched its initial attack on Iran, plunging the entire region into turmoil. The consequences of this conflict have been devastating for countless lives across the Middle East, including those in Iraqi Kurdistan. Families have lost loved ones, their homes have been destroyed, and some have been injured. This widespread instability has left communities anxious about their future, uncertain about their security, and struggling with serious economic and political challenges.

Among all the countries affected, Iraqi Kurdistan faces a particularly complex situation. Although a ceasefire was recently declared between the US and Iran, the violence has not ceased. Iranian forces and affiliated militia groups continue to target Kurdish opposition group bases and camps in the region. Tragically, some of these camps shelter women and children, making the attacks even more deplorable.

We must unequivocally condemn all acts of violence against civilians, regardless of their origin. The people of this region deserve peace, security, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives without fear. It is time for the international community to work together to end this cycle of violence and bring lasting peace to the Middle East. We pray for an end to the violence and for peace to return to the region.
