Statement of Identity
Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT) is an organization gathered in the Spirit of liberating Love. Understanding that violence is rooted in systemic oppression, CPT embodies creative nonviolence in the struggle to transform structures of domination. As members of CPT, we are committed to undoing oppression in our own lives and in the practices of our organization. Together we honor the presence of faith traditions and spirituality as we create an organizational culture that reflects the rich diversity of the human family. Inspired by generations of peacemakers around the world, we partner with communities and organizations to strengthen grassroots peace initiatives.
Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT) welcomes peacemakers who embody creative nonviolence and liberating love in the struggle to transform violence and oppression. CPT invites individuals over age 21 who are prepared for conditions that may involve physical rigor, communication in crisis situations, and exposure to violence and trauma to work for peace. We are committed to building peacemaker teams that reflect the rich diversity of the human family in ability, age, citizenship, class, color, ethnicity, gender identity, immigration and familial status, language, national and social origin, race, sexual orientation and spiritual/ religious/faith traditions. CPT operates within an undoing oppressions framework that examines dynamics of power and privilege in all our work.
