On 8 September 2020, the notorious Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesvos burned down, fanned by a strong wind. For all the years that Moria camp existed, nobody had taken any responsibility for the inhuman conditions of the camp. These conditions caused deaths—and irreversible trauma—to people that had found themselves trapped in the camp. The existence of Moria camp was a crime committed by the European Union and the Greek state, and justice hasn’t been served.

On 11 June 2021, four of the six teenage migrants accused of burning down Moria camp will have their trial on the Greek island of Chios. They have been presented publicly as the culprits from the moment of their arrest and before any due legal process. They were arrested without solid evidence and are being used as scapegoats for the inhumane EU migration policy. Five individuals were minors upon their arrest, but the authorities only recognized two of the six as such. The two recognized minors have already been convicted in a trial that flouted basic procedural standards of fairness.

Pray for a fair trial for the teenage men accused of burning Moria camp.

Pray for justice that there are no other camps like Moria.
