A concrete barrier blocks a road with piles of stones on either side of it. "GO HOME OPP" is written on it in orange spray paint. There are electricity lines running beside the road and a green field in the background with some trees in the distance.
A roadblock at 1492 LandBack Lane urging the police to leave.

Over the course of just one week, three Haudenosaunee Land Defenders were arrested simply for being on their own land. Canada continues to inflict violence upon Indigenous lands and bodies in order to protect the interests of multi-million-dollar corporations.

Despite ongoing police brutality, Haudenosaunee Land Defenders have occupied 1492 Land Back Lane for over 300 days. The Haudenosaunee continue to uphold their inherent rights, abide by their laws, and protect their lands for future generations.

Please pray for:

  • Those who have been arrested, detained, and criminalized by the Ontario Provincial Police. Pray also for their families and all those traumatized by such experiences.
  • Pray that colonial systems of governance and corporations, including Foxgate Developments, would honour the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs’ Moratorium on Development in the Haldimand Tract.
  • All Land Defenders at 1492 Land Back Lane and across Turtle Island who continue to be criminalized for occupying their own lands.
