Prayers for Peacemakers, November 21, 2012

God, be a pillar of nonviolent defense against occupation, apartheid, domination, theft, bombardment, phosphorus chemical weapons, missiles, drones, assassination of journalists, propaganda, home demolition, sexism, racism and despair. Let offenses yield to nationhood, dignity and zealous compliance with the Geneva Conventions in Gaza and everywhere.

Look!
He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him,
even those who pierced
him; and on his account all the tribes
of the earth will wail. So it is to be.
Amen.    -Revelation 1:7

to and appearing with a text from the upcoming
Sunday’s Revised Common Lectionary readings.

Israel named its assault on Gaza ‘Operation Pillar of Defense’ even though God guided Israel away from warfare with the pillar of cloud and fire. See Exodus 13:17-22.
